What’s your favorite thing about being an abstract artist?

I revel in the freedom of my gestures within the realm of abstraction, liberating my mind to craft beauty that whispers a unique tale to each beholder.

Why did you choose to pursue abstract art and not other styles?

I started in the world of painting by painting animals and portraits. I learned a lot of techniques this way. Then, I got tired of having to create things that already existed. I needed more freedom. At that moment the abstract came knocking on my door.

What’s one thing people might not know about you and your art journey so far?

That we need to see the works in real life to understand all the textures and all the history they have. I collect the dried paint from my palettes as well as my old canvases in order to integrate them into my new ones to give them a soul.

Did you always know you’d be an artist or how has your art journey progressed?

I always knew I was an artist, but it was something difficult to put forward. It takes courage to get started in this field. I’m still working on it even though it’s working really well for me.

In your opinion, what’s the most important personal characteristic needed for a career as an artist?

Rigour, courage and letting go.

What advice would you give up and coming abstract artists?

To have fun and do endless tests. To accept that mistakes are possible and that they often lead to an extraordinary discovery or a technique that will be used later.

Do you have any favorite podcasts or books that you love and that have contributed to your journey as an artist?

There is a Quebec series called Les Simone. In this series a tormented character is an artist and we see all the hope she has of building her dream and making a living from her art. This woman inspired me a lot when I was younger.

What’s your most fulfilling and enjoyable experience as an artist so far?

My entry into the bloom gallery was for me a major turning point in my career. I was going through a very difficult time in my life, they reached out to me, supported me and helped me launch my career. I am proud and eternally grateful.

Where do you see yourself and your art in 5 years?

I hope that I will have evolved further, that I will now be a full-time artist and that I will be able to say that my name is made. Each small step fills me with happiness and pride, each thing in its time, but I think I am close to the goal.

What do you love most about abstract art?

Each abstract demonstrates such a vulnerable part of an artist. A story, a vision. I find it fascinating to be able to immerse myself in a painting and understand that it is the artist’s universe. That’s how he sees life. They’re like little planets. It’s like a poem but with colors.

Do you have any favorite quotes?

There is a rapper, Oxmo Puccino, who says: You will never know the end of the story by turning around two minutes from Victory.

I always kept these words in mind. That’s so it.
